why a blog?

If you are reading this it is probably because you know me, and if you know me you might be surprised that I am engaging in the World of Blogging. I haven't always been wild about blogs, but I have realized that a blog will be the best way to chronicle my time in India as a Fulbright researcher. As fellow Fulbrighters have started up their blogs I've found it is a great way to keep in touch with them and to learn more about life in India, and I realized that it would be a good way to stay connected with the folks at home. And so here I am, documenting the Indian adventure. That way, people can check in and follow what I'm doing when and if they feel like it, and I can experience some connectivity across long miles and feel closer to family and home.

So, the purpose of this blog: to let people know what I'm up to in India in a public forum, and to give me a semi-imaginary audience to whom I can direct some thoughts about the trip. I'll talk about travel, life in India, the Tibetan communities I visit, and also some about my research. My hope is that the blog will also be helpful for other Fulbrighters, travelers to India, and women traveling on their own. As always, the views expressed here do not represent those of the Fulbright organization, the US Department of State, or anyone else but me. Right! Good talk.
